Four DeLand High FFA members recently competed in the state Agricultural Mechanics & Career Development Event in Perry, Florida. Dylan Bunzick, Kyle Mattick, Trent Smith, and Logan Ward began competing in as a team in January and worked their way up to states this past weekend where they took 1st place. Suring the competitions, Dylan, Kyle, Trent and Logan had to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency multiple skill areas; Carpentry, Construction, Electricity, Large Agricultural Equipment, Machining, Plumbing,  Reading Precision Instruments, Small Engines, Surveying, & Welding.


Three of the team members placed in the top individual score rankings. Dylan Bunzick took 4th with 148 points, Trent Smith took 5th with 147 and Logan Ward came in 6th with 147 points as well. Those scores combined with Kyle Mattick’s, DeLand took 1st place in this year’s competition with a total of 692 points, defeating their nearest competitor by 20 points.


We are very proud of our Bulldog FFA members as they will represent us next fall at the National Competition. Best of luck
