12 of our students attended the Stetson Choral Festival. 2 students, Reece Windjack & Kenny Browning were chosen from 100 seniors that auditioned to sing a solo at the clinic. They only chose 6 soloists from the entire group.
30 students were selected for the 100 voice All-County Choir. This group will present a concert on November 9 in the DHS auditorium.
8 students were accepted to the Florida American Choral Director's Association Senior Honor Choir. They attended the FLACDA conference and performed the Mass in G by Franz Schubert with a professional orchestra.
13 students passed Round 1 of Florida Vocal Association All-State and will be auditioned for round 2 on October 20th. They'll get their results in mid November.
1 student, Max Larson (Mr. DHS) scored high enough to be in the honored reading choir. Max is one of 100 students in the whole state of Florida that will sing in this group.
Students who pass both rounds will travel to Tampa in January for the week long FMEA conference, working in their ensembles to perform a rigorous program. Students who make this are considered among the highest achieving in the state of Florida for music.
125 students will be performing for Disney Candlelight on December 11th.
DeLand High School participated in A Voice 4 Peace on September 21st, which is the International Day of Peace. 50 students gathered in the chorus room and sang Connected by Brian Tate and Ukuthula a South African Folk song and then uploaded the videos on the international AV4P website.
