Two Bulldog art students were recently recognized for their art work. Junior Krystal Honeyghan, one of 13 DHS art students who won regional awards earlier this year, earned a Silver Medal in the 2018 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers. Krystal’s work was selected by creative professionals as the most accomplished in the nation. This year, nearly 350,000 works of art and writing were submitted. Krystal represents one of less than 1% of the students selected for this award and received an invitation attend this year’s ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York on June 7th. She will also be invited participate in showcase events at Parsons School for Design at The New School and Pratt Institute’s Pratt Manhattan Gallery.
Our other outstanding artist is Junior Nashaly Garcia. Her work was recently showcased in Volusia County Creates Art Exhibition. Her artwork, “Confusion”, was awarded 1st place, and is featured on the invititation for this year’s exhibit at the Museum of Arts & Sciences in Daytona, is on display for visitors to the museum. Confusion was used as a focal point for print and electronic invitations that went out.
We are very proud of both Krystal and Nashaly and look forward to seeing what the future holds for them and their talents.
