Graduation Requirements & Information
24 credits must be earned in grades 9-12. Students must have a 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) for all courses taken after July 1, 1997.  Effective 1992, all 24 credits must be earned prior to the graduation ceremony in order to participate.

24 Credit Option
*4 English 
*3 Science
*3 Math
*3 Social Studies which include: 1 World History, 1 American History, 1/2 American Government, and 1/2 Economics.
*3 Math (one must be a full Algebra credit)
*1 Physical Education which includes 1/2 Personal Fitness.
*.5 credits in Health-Life Management Skills
*1 Performing Arts which may be from Dance, Drama, Music, Art, Speech and Desktop Publishing and/or Practical Arts which may be Agriculture, Business, DCT, Fashion Marketing, Home Economics, Industrial Education, Health Occupations, any Computer course, and Journalism II, III, or IV 
*7 1/2 Electives 
*Must pass both Communication and Math parts of the FCAT OR Score at an approved level (determined by VCPS) on the SAT or ACT exams.

New Social Studies requirements for class entering 9th grade 2005-2006 :
*1 credit of World History
*1 credit of American History
*.5 credit American Government
*.5 credit Economics

International Baccalaureate Option (26 Credits)

* 4 English
* 3 Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science or Physics plus one other)
* 3 Math (including Algebra I or higher)
* 4 Social Studies (to include Theory of Knowledge)
* 3 Foreign Language
* 1 Additional Content Requirement
* 8 Electives and/or additional school/IB program requirements

18 Credit Option (College Prep)

At least 6 of the 18 credits must be in honors, dual enrollment, AP, and IB courses
A 3.0 GPA is required.

* 4 English
* 3 Science
* 3 Math (including Algebra I or higher)
* 3 Social Studies
* 2 Foreign Language (in same language)
* 2 Electives (College Prep)

18 Credit Option (Career Prep)

The two elective credits may also be taken in the Career and Technical Program the student is following.
A 3.0 GPA is required.

* 4 English
* 3 Science (in natural science, two must include lab component)
* 3 Math (including Algebra I or higher)
* 3 Social Studies
* 3 Career and Technical (in same program)
* 2 Electives
