The
Volusia County School Board placed an important referendum
on the ballot asking the voters of Volusia County to
consider a one mill tax to support academic programs, retain
teachers, and support the arts, athletics and student
activities. Without this measure, there will be a
significant reduction in funding for Volusia’s public
schools.
The one mill will generate approximately $26 million a year
for four years, beginning with the 2013-14 operating budget.
The money would be used to replace the loss of state and
federal funds and the current .25 tax millage.
