Congratulations to the 9 bulldogs selected to All-State Band & Chorus

Chorus had 7 singers selected to go to all state chorus and band is sending two on to all-state. Singers Max Larson (Reading Choir), Kenny Browning (Mixed Choir), Reece Windjack (Mixed Choir), Kaylie Crocker (Mixed Choir), Jacob Gutierrez (Mixed Choir – not pictured), Sydney Harp (Women’s Choir), & Josh Freeman (Men’s Choir) are going to Tampa in January to perform at Florida Vocal Association event. Most schools send 1 or two students on to all-state, but DeLand is one of only two schools to send more than 5 on to all state in our district consisting of Flagler, Seminole and Volusia County schools.

Max Larson, the Class of 2019 Mr. DHS, was selected for the top choir in the state. Very few are selected for reading choir, and he is the only singer from Volusia County selected this year, and the first from DeLand High in 3 years.

Band members, Dylan Addonizio & Joey Becker, were selected by the Florida Bandmaster’s Association to perform at the FMEA Conference in Tampa during January. DeLand High is the only school in their district that is sending more than one performer this year. All-state band is the most competitive performance group to get into and Dylan who will be playing Clarinet, and Joey who will be playing Trombone, are both performing at the all state level for the 2nd year in a row.
