Course Description
The goal of Air Force Junior ROTC is to build better citizens with high self-esteem, respect, and discipline. This is done through a challenging academic curriculum and strong leadership program with concentrations on physical training. We endeavor to strengthen character and develop leadership qualities by holding cadets responsible for their choices and actions. Our goal is to develop an interest in aerospace and acquaint students with careers in military and civilian aviation. All instructors are retired Air Force Officers and NCOs with 20 years plus experience and superb academic and professional qualifications. AFJROTC is a high school elective subject which meets graduation and college entrance requirements.
There is NO MILITARY OBLIGATION for participation in AFJROTC.
Program Overview
"Acta, non verba"
"Deeds, not words"
DHS AFJROTC regularly donates time to providing parking assistance and clean-up services to home football games and provides a color guard detail to each. FL-023 assists local Volusia schools with events such as last year’s Winterfest at Blue Lake Elementary, and we’ve assisted with concessions at several local soccer games. AFJROTC sets community service hour goals every year, and our aim is to maintain over 1,500 hours of community service, at a minimum. We usually do many more than that and have fun doing it!
Leadership Development Requirements (LDRs)
Curriculum in Action Trips
Our field trips take us to military bases, colleges, aviation museums, and other locations that help illustrate the lessons we teach here in AFJROTC. Along the way, we’ve also stopped at beaches for team-building sports and amusements parks.
